A non mydriatic retinal camera is used to detect the presence of disease processes such as diabetic retinopathy, maculaopathy, glaucoma and retinal hemorrhage. The procedure is unique in that no dilation of the eyes is necessary and no contacts need to be removed. The exam consists of a photo of each eye that allows us to view the blood vessels in the eye. A retinal specialist reads the photos and then sends a report to the physician ordering the scan.
